Staff Accountant

Our client is a growing clean energy and sustainability services company that helps businesses and renewable energy asset owners navigate environmental markets and maximize the value of clean energy initiatives. They are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role is ideal for a professional with 1–5 years of experience who is looking to deepen their expertise in corporate accounting and contribute to the financial health of a dynamic organization. The successful candidate will support various aspects of the accounting cycle, from accounts payable/receivable to month-end closing procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Core Responsibilities
  • General Ledger Support: Assist in the preparation of journal entries and maintain the general ledger to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and oversee collections to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash.
  • Month-End Closing: Support the senior accounting team in closing the books monthly and annually, including accruals and prepaid expense adjustments.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports for management review.
  • Compliance & Audit: Maintain organized records and documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Data Integrity: Utilize accounting software to input data and generate reports, ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–5 years of professional experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or SAP).
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
